free shelving made into book cases

A couple of weeks ago I got a free desk at Wallpaper Wharehouse. Along with it I got four of these shelfving units, they are really nice but needed some TLC. They were used to hold wall paper rolls in the store.
This is the side of one of them I had to pull of the wallpaper off one side of each shelf. not too bad but there was bits of paper everywhere.
I got better at removing the stuff as I went, see..
This is how the inside was set up. The shelfs were spaced about 8 inches apart so I removed some of the shelfs and moved them.
I used my handy 5 in 1 tool and a hammer to remove the wood pegs holding the shelf in place. There were only four per shelf, 2 in the front, 2 in the back.  I also used the scraper tool to remove the tape glue and whatever else was on there and then wiped them clean they look seriously brand new. I was SO excited they cleaned up so nice.
All the shelfs are now removed, I was really glad, it turned out way easier than I thought it was going to be. I gave each one a good scubbing and cleaned thenm up really good. I then filled in all the holes I didn't need.
These are not going to stay here permanently but I've got the room here in the basement to keep them but i couldn't just let them sit here empty now could I???
My accessories are from stores all over
baskets most from local thrift stores, logs are from my parents yard, picture frames from Rod Works.
In this next picture the book case in the middle I already had, it looked too short and boring before so I put this one in the middle to make things more interesting..add a little height..
As you can see in pic below they are pretty deep I can't decide if i want to cut the backs about 6 to 9 inches and make them a little more shallow... like the shelf in the middle.
I really need to re organize a little better it looks a little busy on some of the shelfs..

This is only temporary, I just had to get them out of my garage and I couldn't have them in my basement looking like they did so this is them for right now When I run into some  extra $ moola I will add a base and some crown moulding to the top and bead board to the sides and back..oh I am so excited.. I will keep you updated.
I have been wanting to do some built ins for my basement.
I looked all over pinterest and got some idea of how I would want mine.. check them out..

You have been very creative with your decorations, especially showing how inexpensive you can decorate. Your page has inspired me! Sometimes when you get older you forget some of your creativity and I thank you for helping bring some of mine back to light! :)
