how to stencil fabric drapes

I have seen lots of ladies stenciling or painting their fabric drapes and just had to try it for my self. In my master bath I put up some Muslin fabric drapes, they are cream in color but nothing special.
Until now....

What you will need:

Stencil-I used a stencil I had purchased from Joanns its about 12 inches tall and wide.
Small foam roller- for smooth surfaces like mouldings and cabinets.
Paint- Oatbran from Lowes/Vlaspar
Fabric drapes- washed and ironed

I layed the fabric down on my island in my kitchen and started at the top left corner. I used the edges of the stencil to place my pattern. it is not perfectly spaced but its good enough for me. This picture show the actual color of the drapes and the paint I used for the pattern.

I dipped my roller in paint then onto a paper towel to get any clumps or excess paint off. I wanted the stencil to be a little spotty to make it look vintage.

Sorry for the bad lighting this room is either dark or really bright..
Here is a close up of the drapes.. I need to make these drapes longer so they go all the way down to the top of the tub..
Thanks for visiting!

  1. I think you did a great job. The colors are very soft and you did just the wright amount of stencils. I love the shelf and the decorations you put on it.

    1. Hey thanks for stopping by my blog. and for your comment. I hope these drapes are washable. I am guessing yes but the paint probably won't hold up if i wash them all the time. I put them in my bathroom cuz I knew they would stay pretty clean for a long period of time.
