A few weeks ago my husband said "hey we should get some lighter color bedding, I am ready for something new" WHAT?? He doesn't usually say things like that. The next morning I was up early getting all the ideas in my head together and getting into action. I had always wanted to do some wainscoting/board and batten to the wall behind my bed and now I had the chance.
Little did he know that getting new bedding meant a whole major room change ;) ha ha ha ha!
Here is my bedroom last year (it was the only before picture I had.)
And.......After!! Oh, I just love it!! It makes me smile when I walk by ;)
I have always wanted a ruffle bed skirt but they were never long enough. So I made my own that matches the pillow shams it is 24 inches tall. (picture above) I also took down the dark window panels and hung crisp white panels (twin sheets from Wal-Mart, $4 each) that still let some light in, they and go all the way to the floor. I did have to move my rods all the way up to the ceiling which I like so much better too.
I got my down comforter at JCPenny.com for 60% off!! It is SOOOOO soft and fluffy I just want to curl up and sleep forever.
I took off my bedding so fast that I didn't have any shams for my large 26 x 26 inch Euro pillows and those things are pretty pricey. Like $40 or $50 for each sham. I had some fabric laying around and whipped some up. Free!! I liked them so much I made some for some more pillows I love the ruffles of the ends they are simple and comfy. My sewing skills are not perfect but they turned out better than I thought they would. They will work for me, until I find some I like more.
I am so happy with the changes in my bedroom. It is so much lighter and more my style. And the most important part is my husband likes it too.
Thanks for stopping by.

I will be posting the tutorial on the wainscoting in the next few days. It is simple but makes a big impact.
Such a lovely light filled cottage bedroom! It looks dreamy!
ReplyDeleteLisa, I can always count on your visits! Thanks for always being so sweet :)
DeleteOh wow!! It looks lovely!! I love the wainscoting. It adds so much. The white bedding does make it look so dreamy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle. That is the feel we were going for DREAMY!!
DeleteWhat a sweet difference! It does look comfy cozy and so inviting. I am working on our bedroom also.. still the same print and theme with palms...always adding and tweaking.. I finally bought all my pillows for the bed..12 all together.. LOL.. well maybe a couple more.. LOL... I also finally came up with my over the bed wall décor.. I cant wait to get it all finished.. It looks as if we have a similar bed...sleigh bed.. I cant tell by yours.. but ours is very tall ..I almost need a lift to get into it ..LOL ...
ReplyDeleteSweet dreams !
Dang girl that is a lot of pillows!! I too love pillows. What says sleep and comfort more than a soft pillow right? Yes, my bed is tall but I am tall so it works for us. I hope you get your room just the way you want it. And yes it is always a work in progress as is my whole home ;) Thanks for your comment.

DeleteI looooove the way the wainscoting looks behind the bed! I would never have thought to do the wainscoting on just one wall like that but I really like it!
