Merry & Bright Blog Hop {Kitchen & Dining}

Welcome to our MERRY and BRIGHT Blog Hop Kitchen and Dining room!

I'm so sad that this is our last week of the blog hop. I have really enjoyed looking through all the Christmas inspiration from the other amazingly talented hosts. They are all so special in their own way and have such kind hearts. I've really grown to love each of them.

Welcome to my dining room. This is where we spend a lot of time together as a family.
My kitchen is in the same room as my dining room and my Living room is attached to it as well. I love having all of it open, one big space. Except when one or the other is a mess! hahaha!

I used the same theme in my whole house this year, lots of greenery, creams and pops reds. Below is the shelf in my dining area. I love decorating shelves and hanging décor from them too. I adore the glow of candles all over my home at Christmas time they create such a cozy feel. Real pomegranates are one of my favorite Christmas décor items. I made this sign in October, its one of my favorite things I added this year. its a good size 16x20 and fits perfectly on my shelf between the greenery and brass candle tapers.

I am so excited about my tablescape this year! I love doing tablescapes!! I have so much fun creating a special table setting with things I love from around my home. Pretty white plates are a staple for me, I love white dishes, they go with everything!

I think this is my favorite table setting I've done so far. I love all the warm woods and reds together. and all the little cranberries sprinkled all over!! I also love my new silverware from World Market.
My faux candles help with the cozy ambiance I was hoping to create. I also used real small votive candles, I use these all over they are the cutest little accents. The main centerpiece is a simple bowl full of fresh goodies, pomegranates, apples and pines cones with rustic greenery.

Isn't this a fun view of my tablescape? It was a little tricky getting it just right since I couldn't see thru my camera lens!

This is the view of my kitchen from the family room.

My kitchen is not huge so I tried to keep things simple.  I hung a wreath in the window I made from a garland from Michaels. I love my glass Jars. I got the idea for this again from Kristen @ellaclaireinspired you can find her tutorial for these jars here on her blog. I love the jars with the ginger bread houses in them, more greenery and Pomegranates.

HOLIDAY TABLE | 2018

I love a pretty table! It's no secret. Setting and decorating a table is like creating a piece of art. I love pretty white plates and fun napkins.

My kids feel all grown up when I let them drink out of fancy goblets.  I love candles, lots of candles, they just set a cozy, peaceful feeling. Today I'm sharing my holiday Christmas tablescape with you. I love how it tuned out. I only purchased a few new things for this table, They are all very neutral and can be used all year long.

All of my sources will be listed at the end of this post. Please feel free to ask any questions in the comments.

My kitchen/dining room and family room are open to each other so I kept the color pallet the same. Greens, woods, whites, gold and mercury glass.
My favorite addition to this years table are my striped napkins from Pottery Barn.

I love that we can see our Christmas tree from our dinner table it's just so festive. Maybe we can tun off all the lights and have a cozy Christmas dinner by twinkle lights and candle light. I think my kids will get a kick out of that.

When decorating your table remember to pick a color scheme first. I like white plates because they go with everything. Then you can add color with your napkins, goblets and chargers.

Also use items like a center piece and candles to add height to your table. I like to have a set of gold and silver flatware. You can get a good set for a good price at Walmart, Home Goods or World Market. As you can see I don't have any flatware on my tablescape. Well that's because I totally forgot to put them on before I took my pictures. That's real life for ya.

Christmas Tablescape 2020

Who’s ready for Christmas? It’s under 2 weeks away, can you believe it?! I hope you have been able to relax a bit and enjoy the holiday season with your loved ones.

One of my favorite things about the holidays is getting together with our family to talk and eat together. I hope we will be able to get together this year.

Tablescapes are one of my favorite things to put together, they make the holidays extra special.

Candles are always a good idea when you want that cozy feeling at the table
I love this candle tapper holder, unfortunately it's sold out, but I've been watching for when it comes back in stock

Here's a little tip for you, If your candles don't stand up straight take some plastic wrap and wrap around the bottom of the tapper candle so it sits snug in the candle holder!! brilliant isn't it!

I recently purchased these gray stone ware dinner set. I'm usually a white kind of girl but these are so beautiful. such good quality too

These cute bubble lights add a fun whimsical look on the table woven thru the greenery and tall white candles

I had to add these frosted gingerbread cookies for the kids from Trader Joe’s that’s I’m hooked on.

The glasses are from my mom they moved a few years a ago and she was giving things away to downsize so I snagged these glasses every time I use them they remind me of her.

I tried to use things I already had around the house for this tablescape. The rattan chargers and napkins I’ve had for years. The cedar garland is from Hobby Lobby also a few years old it had red berries on it and I removed them for a more neutral look. These cute bubble lights were an inexpensive find this year from Target,

Hope you are enjoying the holiday season. Stay safe out there

VALENTINES DECOR

Hello friends! I am so glad you are here. I'm so happy that I get to share a bit of my Valentines decor with you today. My home is usually neutral but holidays are a fun time to pull out the color! I love pinks for Valentines day can you tell? I love all shades of pink.

I got the idea for this centerpiece from Cherie at SweetRose&Wren she made a similar one for her Christmas tablescape and I fell in love! So be sure to stop by her blog HERE or her Instagram HERE and see how amazingly talented she is.

I have loved having this chalk board to change out with the months. I need to practice more on my hand writing skills. But for now this is good enough.

Tablescapes are such a fun way to decorate for the holidays. I like to keep the main things, like plates and chargers neutral. Then add color or patterns with napkins, centerpieces and goblets filled with colored juice.

Candles always bring a cozy romantic feel to any table. These taper candles add height and warmth to the table. layer, layer, layer. I love having lots of layers on my tables. You can layer your plates and napkins or even a table runner adds texture, layers and interest.

I'm loving this new rug from Boutique Rugs it is the Harput Area rug.

All of the flowers I used for this centerpiece are from Michaels craft store. Wood box, candles and  wicker chargers are from Hobby Lobby. Silverware is from World Market.

Do you decorate for Valentines day? I like to do something fun for the kids. red breakfast or a fun dinner around the holiday.

Happy Valentines month! I would love to see how you decorate for Valentines day.

Thanks for being here!

Merry and Bright Blog Hop {Living Room}

Welcome to another week of our Merry and Bright Blog Hop! I'm
 So happy to have you!

You guys, I really love decorating my home for the Christmas season! It helps me keep a good perspective on the things that matter most to me. The reason for the season. That reason is to remember the birth and life of our Savior Jesus Christ! To spread his love. To help our neighbors and those that are less fortunate.

With that in mind, please enjoy my Christmas Living Room!
This space, other than our kitchen is the room we spend most of our time together as a family. This room looks totally different than it did 5 years ago. I first painted the wood mantel and railing going down stairs white. Then I painted the whole room Revere Pewter. The ceiling got a coat of white paint to brighten things up. We also got new carpet and new couches. We get a ton of natural light through our large south facing windows so its a bit hard to photograph sometimes. I really kept things simple. Sometimes less is more right?

Like I said before, we spend a lot of time in this room, so we have to have a TV in this room. We tried to not have one and everyone ended up in our room, NOT what I was after. Needless to say we put the TV back up above our fireplace. I don't love our corner fireplace, it's large and takes up a big amount of our room. But it is what it is and I and I decorate it the best I can. I do love my fireplace, I use it all the time in the winter.

I stayed neutral in this room with pops of red, green, brass and mercury glass. A rustic glam style I guess. I don't usually use red in my décor except for Valentines and Christmas. it just doesn't feel like Christmas to we without red in my home. Totally just my opinion, I see tons of beautiful homes with no red at all and they are just lovely.

The red sweater pillows are from Tai Pan Trading. I made the red and cream striped pillows from 20x20 napkins from World Market. Red and Cream stockings are from Hobby Lobby. I am on the hunt for more sweater looking stockings but haven't seen any I love yet. I love my brass candle tapers I purchased from Etsy months ago, they add so much to any space. Who doesn't love the glow of candles. As you can see I love candles, a lot.

I finally purchased this cute little wood side table from Wayfair. I have been eyeing it for over a year!! It went on major sale so I snatched it up quick. I'm so glad I got it., it's just so darn cute!

Yes, I stood on my kitchen counter to get this shot!
I  have a little bit of decorating ADD, I move stuff around all the time! Things are moved to a different spot at any given time. Like the coffee table, I moved the tree and presents and put together a tray of faux candles and greenery you'll see in the picture below this one.

This is my favorite tray, I use it all over my home. It's from Hobby Lobby. The red berry garland is from Michaels, the small mercury ornaments are from Antique Farmhouse, they were a garland until I cut them apart and use them for ornaments. Eucalyptus is from Hobby Lobby.

Below is the view of my family room from my entryway. See how much light comes through those windows. It heats up our house so much, I love it! I do have to close the shutters by afternoon because it gets really warm, too warm sometimes.

I wasn't going to put garland on my railing this year because you really only see it when you're going down the stairs or when you walk into our family room. My daughter really, really wanted me to put some up. She kept asking and asking. Last week I finally had the time to put some up for her.

I added a simple berry wreath to my Hobby Lobby mirror. I made it from a grapevine wreath and a garland from Michales craft store then used my favorite striped ribbon from World Market

I moved my picture of Jesus and put it on my entry table right when you come in our front door with my nativity, that left this wall open. I moved the scripture sayings that are usually over my bed and put them here. I love them like this above one another in stead of side by side. I love moving my things around and using them if different ways.

Another close up of my tree.

I bought this tree 2 years ago, It is 7.5 feet tall. The lights don't show up really well during the daytime but at night there are tons of light from the tree. There are several types of green foliage in this tree and I like the different texture and fullness it gives it. I do add more faux greens to my tree.

Tree source list:
Tree-Tai Pan Trading
Red glass ornaments-Tai Pan Traing
Mercury glass Ornaments (not totally oval shaped)-Tai Pan Trading
Striped Cream ribbon-Online
Red berries-Michaels 70% off
Faux pine green stems-Michaels 70% off
Glitter pines cones-Joann's
Frosted twigs-Michaels 70% off
Golden Mercury Glass Ornaments-Pottery Barn
Ruffle tree skirt-DIY by me
Large pine cones-Hobby Lobby
Honey comb round mercury glass ornaments- Home Goods
Collecting things for a Christmas tree takes time. I've been collecting mercury glass ornaments for a few years now. I get all my stuff on sale 50-70% off. Ribbon is a great inexpensive way to change the look of your tree if you want to mix things up each year. This year I wanted to lighten things up by adding this cream striped twill ribbon. I like the change it made.

Here is a little sneak peek at my dining and kitchen area I'll will be sharing next week! I can't wait!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and see my Christmas living room. I hope you had a good visit. I am almost finished with all my gift shopping, it's such a huge relief. Now I can relax and enjoy the holiday season.
