how to make old wood decor

I had some bead board layin' around so I just had to make something out of it. I can't throw any good wood away.
I cut the sheet into 12inch x 12inch squares. pictured below. Bead side will be the back.
I then stained them with Minwax Gel Stain. Let cry then took a stencil and a roller and some cream paint and used it to make different patterns on the three pieces. I got a little paint ouside the pattern but who cares.

Super easy. let it dry. It looked too new and perfect so I sanded it down a bit to make it look older.
As you can see the top and left one have not been sanded but the bottom right has..mmmmmm oldness. I had to be careful or the sander would have taken the paint right off.
I measured where to drill my holes and used twine to hang them. Sorry I couldn't get a straight on shot I out them in my hall way and its too narrow to get a really good picture.
Okay poeple go out an create!! And have fun doing it.
Thanks,
Lindsay

  2. Okay, I must say that I'm so glad you stopped by my blog to say hello...otherwise I don't know when i would have come across your blog. It is so great! I'm afraid I've spent the majority of "nap time" looking at the amazing crafts you've done. (not that I regret it, but you know what I mean) You have such great style. I'm your newest follower and can't wait to see what else you come up with. Thanks for the eye candy:) -Kristi (kriskraft)
